The Rules of the Competition

The competition is open to BCC members, regardless of the production or services profile or form of ownership. The questionnaire filled in by the entrepreneurs entering the competition takes into account strictly financial criteria (sales, exports, profit, own capital, obligations and receivables, current and planned investments) as well as descriptive criteria (e.g. high quality of products and services, awards and certificates, ISO standards, new products on the market, concern about company tradition, etc.). The Jury analyses the development of the firm, the maintenance of a high market position, its attitude to environmental protection (the level of spending on ecological projects, reduction of emissions, introduction of new environmentally clean technological processes) and the entrepreneurs' cooperation with the local community and their charitable activities. It also appraises the employer's relations with employees, his activity for the benefit of the local business milieu and of economic reforms.

From among the entrants, the Jury first hands out the nominations for the award and then picks up the winners from among the nominations; the Statuettes are presented during the winter Grand Gala of Leaders; since December 1994, the Gala has been held at Teatr Wielki (the Opera) in Warsaw.

The winners of Golden Statuettes who maintain a high position on the market may receive the Diamond to the Statuette in the next edition of the competition; the Diamonds are awarded during the Grand Summer Gala of Business Centre Club, which for the last four years has been organised at Warsaw's Sluzewiec racecourse.

The Diamonds have been awarded since 1993. Initially they were presented at the Grand Gala of Leaders, together with the presentation of Golden Statuettes. The rules of the competition were changed in 1995 and since then the presentation of the Diamonds was moved to the Summer Gala.
